You may not be aware of the Web2 Suicide Machine site. This perky or pesky (however you look at it) service has been available for a while now. What you do is simply click where they tell you, fill in a few details about your social networking subscriptions and – kapow – you are dead in the water as far as FaceBook, Twitter and the rest are concerned.
However, after more than 50.000 friends being unfriended and more than 500 forever "signed-out" users, Facebook has started to block suicidemachine from their servers without any comment! Suicidemachine is currently looking in ways to circumvent this ungrounded restriction imposed on its service!

Over dinner the other night, my wife told me a story about killer germ strains. Germs that have grown in strength because of the overuse of antibiotics, more specifically, hand sanitizers. The urban myth states that a germ strain has developed that it is resistant to all hand sanitizer products, except Purell.

Social Media is mainstream and people are now starting to say ‘How do I get involved’ rather than ‘Why should I get involved?’ Brands/companies will be looking to use social media sensibly, not just slapping a logo on a facebook fan page. Big brands like Pepsi and Ford are hiring Social Media directors to lead the way, putting together strategies. As we go further into 2010 more brands/companies will wake up to this shift in marketing and realise it’s serious stuff.

Enterprise 2.0 continued its growth and maturation in 2009. We saw the rise of the Enterprise 2.0 consultancies, including Dachis Group, Altimeter Group and Pragmatic Enterprise 2.0. Andrew McAfee published his book about Enterprise 2.0. We saw the rise of the 2.0 Adoption Council. And based on what can be gleaned from vendors, more enterprises are deploying social software.
